The Soccer Cake
The dessert table featured a two-tier cake covered in lush green chocolate and adorned with fondant hexagons, soccer balls, and a mini soccer net.
I made a green grass / artificial turf look on the cake using a chocolate spray gun and a similar technique as in this wedding anniversary cake or this spider cake. You can find the full tutorial on how to make this soccer-themed cake here. It has over 50 photos and videos.
Chocolate Soccer Ball Piñata
The highlight of this soccer-themed dessert bonanza was an edible chocolate soccer ball piñata, tempting the birthday boy to take a shot and unleash a burst of candy surprises for all his friends. The kids’ cheers and laughter resonated as the birthday boy joyfully broke the piñata and they all collected the sweets that were hiding inside. Soccer-Themed Cakesicles
I made cakesicles decorated with the classic black and white hexagons which captivated the young soccer fans and added a pop of excitement to the table. Check out this Soccer-Themed Cakesicles post to learn how to make them.
Another option is to make green or green and white cakesicles which go very well with the theme as well. Check out this Soccer-Themed Cakesicles post to learn how to make these green and white marbled cakesicles.
Soccer Ball Cookies
Cookies, too, are not just cookies in this soccer dreamland. I didn’t have any stencil nor I wanted to decorate them with fondant or icing. So, I used a black marker with edible ink to hand draw the iconic pattern of a soccer ball.
You can also just make an outline of the soccer ball pattern with the marker and then pipe white and black frosting (like buttercream or cream cheese buttercream) with a star tip. Or, you can decorate the cookies in the traditional way with sugar icing if you enjoy the taste.
Soccer Ball Cupcakes
And if that’s not enough, cupcakes in the shape of soccer balls, garnished with intricate frosting work, are sure to leave a lasting impression on young soccer stars.
I made these soccer ball cupcakes in a very easy way by placing frosting in this silicone soccer ball ice mold – the bottom/black section (affiliate link), then placing a cupcake on it upside down, and freezing it to safely remove the mold and create soccer ball-shaped cupcakes. You can find the full tutorial on how to make these soccer ball cupcakes here.
