Inspired by the flavours of Amalfi and Capri, this Limoncello Strawberry Smoothie recipe is the perfect way to bring a taste of Italy to your own kitchen.
If you’re like me, then you probably fell in love with the vibrant and colourful culture of Italy during your travels. And if you had the chance to visit Amalfi and Capri, then you likely also indulged in some of the local culinary delights. One such delicacy that you might have enjoyed is Limoncello – a sweet and tangy liqueur made from lemon zest that is a favourite in southern Italy. Limoncello is best enjoyed chilled and can be sipped on its own, mixed with sparkling water, or used as a cocktail ingredient.
P.S. I loved their lemons, as big as my head ☺️.
Ingredients (2 smoothies)
- 300 g (2 cups) frozen strawberries
- 300 g (2 cups) ice cubes
- 120 ml (1 cup) Limoncello
- 120 ml (1 cup) freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 6 Tbsp strawberry syrup to add a bit more flavour and sweetness; or you can use 4 Tbsp honey instead if you don’t have strawberry syrup
Directions
In a blender, combine the frozen strawberries, Limoncello, lemon juice, ice, strawberry syrup / honey.
Blend until smooth and creamy.
Pour the mixture into glasses and serve immediately.
This smoothie is a delicious combination of sweet and tangy flavours, with the Limoncello adding a slight boozy kick. The frozen strawberries and ice give it a creamy, slushy texture, while the lemon juice adds tanginess and freshness.
You can adjust the sweetness to your liking by adding more or less strawberry syrup/honey.
Enjoy!
