Tomato Basil Burrata Salad is a delicious and refreshing dish that combines the creaminess of burrata cheese with the freshness of tomatoes and basil. This salad is not only visually stunning but also bursting with flavour.
Ingredients
- 4 large ripe tomatoes, preferably heirloom varieties; you can also add some cherry and grape tomatoes into the mix
- 1 ball of burrata cheese
- 1 bunch of fresh basil leaves
- extra virgin olive oil
- balsamic glaze (or aged balsamic vinegar)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
Wash the tomatoes and pat them dry.
Slice the tomatoes into 1/4-inch thick rounds. You can also halve cherry or grape tomatoes if you prefer.
On a serving platter or individual plates, arrange the tomato slices and basil leaves (saving just a few leaves for garnish).
Carefully remove the burrata cheese from its packaging. Burrata is a soft, creamy cheese with a mozzarella shell and a creamy centre, so handle it gently.
Drizzle extra virgin olive oil generously over the salad.
Drizzle balsamic glaze (or aged balsamic vinegar) over the top. The amount can be adjusted to your taste, but a few teaspoons usually work well.
Season the salad with a pinch of salt and a dash of freshly ground black pepper. Remember that the burrata and balsamic glaze may already add some saltiness, so adjust accordingly.
Chop the basil leaves you saved earlier and sprinkle them over the salad.
Just before serving, tear the burrata cheese into pieces and distribute it evenly over the tomatoes.
Serve the tomato basil burrata salad immediately as an appetizer or side dish. It’s best enjoyed fresh.
