Let’s make a delicious Hot Chocolate with Salted Caramel! This warm and creamy drink is perfect for chilly days and is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth with its delicious blend of chocolate and caramel.
Ingredients
- 480 ml (2 cups) whole milk
- 120 ml (1/2 cup) whipping cream
- 90 grams (1/2 cup) semisweet chocolate callets or chips; if you are using large chocolate bars, shred or chop your chocolate into small pieces
- 60 grams (1/4 cup) salted caramel sauce
- Whipped cream and additional caramel for garnish (optional)
These ingredients are enough for 2 medium-sized hot chocolates (i.e. ~ 375 ml each).
Directions
Heat the whipping cream in a heavy-bottomed saucepan (or in a bowl over a pot of boiling water) until it almost comes to a boil. Pour it over the chocolate and let it sit for 2-3 minutes before stirring it slowly with a spoon or spatula. Stir until all the chocolate is melted and smooth.
Froth your milk, or just heat it if you don’t have a milk frother.
Add the caramel into your mugs or glasses. If you need a recipe for salted caramel check out my Salted Caramel recipe.
Pour the milk over and the melted chocolate.
Stir to combine. Garnish with whipped cream and additional salted caramel.
Serve warm and enjoy!
