If it’s Easter, it’s time to decorate some eggs! Dyeing eggs with plants is fun and easy and the nice part about this is that every egg will be wildly different :).
You will need:
- white eggs
- Egg dye
- Cups for dyes
- Old pantyhose
- thread
- Leaves
- 2-3 Tbsp oil
Directions:
In a large pot, add cold water and your eggs and bring to a boil over medium heat. Boil the eggs for 7-8 minutes.
Make your dye according to the dye package instructions.
And now it’s time to get the leaves ready so grease a small plate with oil (and I mean grease not pour oil as I did in the picture 🙂 ). Press each leaf on the plate and then stick them on the hard-boiled eggs while they are still hot.
Cover each egg with the pantyhose and secure the end(s) with thread. Make sure it is tight! If your leaf is not tight on the egg, the dye will seep into the spots and your prints will not look as nice.
Put your eggs into the dye and let sit for 15-20 minutes, or according to the dye package instructions.
Remove your eggs from the dye and place on paper towels. Let them dry before taking off the pantyhose and removing the leaf.
Lightly pat each egg with a paper towel dipped in oil for a shiny look.
