Easter is a time for joy, renewal, and celebration. One of the most fun traditions of Easter is decorating eggs, but have you ever tried using napkins to create unique and beautiful designs? In this blog post, I’ll show you how to make Easter eggs with napkins using beaten egg white to adhere the napkins onto the eggshells. This is a fun and easy way to create beautifully decorated eggs with colourful patterns and designs. With just a few simple materials and a bit of creativity, you can make your own customized Easter eggs that will be the envy of your family and friends.
Ingredients/Materials
- white eggs
- paper napkins with colourful designs or patterns
- 1 egg white (enough for making 25 eggs), lightly beaten
- brush
Directions
In a large pot, add cold water and your eggs and bring to a boil over medium heat. Boil the eggs for 5-6 minutes.
In the meantime, get your napkins ready. Paper napkins have layers of paper. Usually, there are three layers. Peel the plain white layers off the back and discard them. You only need the colourful layer.
Cut the napkins in small pieces that will fit over your egg. Each of my napkins was 12.5 cm x 12.5 cm (5’’ x 5’’), when folded. So after I peeled the colourful layer, I cut each napkin into 4 pieces.
Work with the eggs while they are still hot / warm.
Using a brush, apply a thin layer of beaten egg onto the surface of the egg. Place the piece of napkin over the surface of the egg. Wrap it around and press with your hand, making sure it adheres well.
Then, use the brush to apply more egg white onto the napkin, smoothing out any wrinkles or bubbles.
Because the egg is still hot, the egg white will dry out very fast.
And there you have it! You can now enjoy beautifully decorated eggs! This is a simple and fun way to decorate eggs for Easter or any other occasion.
