Introducing a dual delight dish that our family makes quite often: Grilled Pork Shoulder & Loin. This dish offers a great culinary experience by featuring two distinct cuts of pork, each with its own delightful qualities that cater to various preferences.
The pork shoulder slices, known for their rich marbling and slightly higher fat content, bring a melt-in-your-mouth tenderness and a depth of flavour that pork enthusiasts adore. As they cook on the grill, these succulent slices develop a delectable caramelized crust that adds a satisfying textural contrast to the meat’s lusciousness.
On the other hand, the boneless pork loin chops showcase a leaner and tender profile, appealing to those who appreciate a leaner meat option. With their subtle marbling and delicate texture, these chops offer a delectable juiciness while still maintaining a lightness that appeals to those seeking a leaner protein.
Whether you crave the luxurious succulence of pork shoulder or the delicate tenderness of pork loin, this recipe will be sure to satisfy every taste preference. You can serve the grilled pork shoulder slices and pork loin chops hot with your favourite side dishes, such as roasted or grilled vegetables, salad, or mashed potatoes.
Ingredients
- 900 g (2 lbs) pork boneless shoulder slices
- 900 g (2 lbs) boneless pork loin chops
- 3-4 Tbsp sweet paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- olive oil
Note that while grilling, you can also baste the meat with any desired barbecue sauce to add extra flavour. Brush it on during the last few minutes of cooking. We prefer cooking this meat with salt/pepper/paprika most times, but adding barbecue sauce is definitely an option.
Directions
Preheat the grill to medium heat.
Prepare the pork shoulder slices and pork loin chops by patting them dry with paper towels.
Drizzle or brush both sides of the pork shoulder slices and pork loin chops with olive oil to prevent sticking.
Sprinkle the salt, pepper, and paprika evenly on both sides of the pork shoulder slices and pork loin chops, ensuring they are well seasoned.
Place the pork shoulder slices and pork loin chops on the preheated grill.
Cook the pork shoulder slices for approximately 4-5 minutes per side, and the pork loin chops for approximately 2-3 minutes per side.
Adjust the cooking times as needed based on the thickness and desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the pork. The pork shoulder slices and pork loin chops should reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C) for medium doneness.
Once the pork reaches the desired temperature, remove it from the grill, cover it and let it rest for 10 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.
Serve the grilled pork shoulder slices and pork loin chops hot with your favourite side dishes, such as roasted or grilled vegetables, salad, or mashed potatoes.
