St. Patrick’s Day is a holiday that is celebrated on March 17th, and is associated with Irish culture and heritage. One of the most popular cocktails for this holiday is the Irish Whiskey Sour, which is made with Irish whiskey, lemon juice, and simple syrup. It is light, refreshing, and easy to make. The combination of Irish whiskey, lemon juice, and simple syrup creates a delicious balance of sweet and sour flavours.
Ingredients
- 120 ml (1/2 cup) Irish whiskey – I used Jameson
- 60 ml (1/4 cup) lemon juice
- 30 ml (2 Tbsp) simple syrup (to make this add 15 g sugar & 1 Tbsp of water to a small saucepan and let it simmer, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves; then allow to cool before using)
- ice
- lemon wheels, for garnish
- Maraschino cherries, for garnish
These ingredients will make two drinks.
Directions
Fill a shaker with ice.
Add the Irish whiskey, lemon juice, and simple syrup to the shaker.
Shake the ingredients until well combined and chilled.
Strain the cocktail into glasses filled with ice.
Garnish with lemon wheels and maraschino cherries.
I rimed the glasses with coloured sugar. Just rub a lemon wedge along the outer edge of each glass. Place your glass upside down into the sugar.
