Our family loves these Crispy Oven-Baked Chicken Strips! The secret to their crispiness lies in the crushed corn flakes that the chicken strips are coated in. Of course, other ingredients and the oven temperature play a role, but the corn flakes give them such a nice crunch and taste. I also marinated the chicken strips to make them juicy and tender on the inside.
Chicken strips are a classic comfort food that everyone loves. While deep-fried chicken strips are undeniably delicious, they can be quite unhealthy. In this post, I will show you how to make super crispy oven-baked chicken strips that are not only much tastier, but they are also healthier. This recipe is easy to follow and perfect for any occasion, whether it’s a weeknight dinner or a party snack.
Ingredients
- 680 g (1.5 lbs) chicken breast, skinless
- 3 large eggs
- 120 g (1 cup) all-purpose flour
- 3 Tbsp plain yogurt
- 3 Tbsp mustard
- 3 Tbsp of your favourite chicken seasoning, I used Montreal chicken seasoning
- 300 g (7-9 cups) corn flakes
Directions
Cut the chicken breast, lengthwise, into thin strips.
In a bowl, mix together the plain yogurt, chicken spice blend, and mustard. Add the chicken strips to the bowl, and stir until the chicken is well-coated in the marinade. Cover the bowl with a lid or plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper, and set aside.
Crush the corn flakes into small pieces. I placed them in a bag (to avoid making a mess) and just lightly pressed on the bag to crush the corn flakes.
Beat the three eggs.
Remove the chicken strips from the marinade, and discard any excess marinade.
Working with one chicken strip at a time, coat the chicken first in the flour, then in the beaten egg, and finally in the crushed corn flakes. Press the corn flakes onto the chicken to ensure they adhere well.
Place the chicken strips on the prepared baking tray, and bake for 20 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
Once cooked, remove the chicken strips from the oven and allow them to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Serve them with your favourite side dish – salad, fries, grilled veggies, mashed potatoes etc.. You can also just enjoy them as a snack with your favourite dipping sauce, such as honey mustard, barbecue sauce, or ranch dressing.
