The most basic cake recipe you can get! You can moist the cake with sugar syrup and any type of flavour you like – vanilla, rum, lemon etc.
Ingredients for a 24.5 x 9 cm (9.6 x 3.5 inches) baking pan:
- 9-10 large eggs (550 g of egg)
- 3 Tbsp oil
- 300 g sugar
- 300 g cake flour, sifted
- 3 Tbsp vanilla extract (optional)
The pan should be greased with butter and floured or lined with parchment paper.
Directions:
Beat egg whites with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form. Add sugar and beat until dissolved. Fold in the egg yolks.
Carefully blend in the flour until just combined. Mix in the oil and vanilla extract.
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Pour batter into springform pan and bake for about 35–40 minutes, or until brown (you can insert a toothpick in the centre and if it comes out clean then it’s ready).
